FAQ

Can I enrol for the first lesson after I visit the art class?
Sorry. We may not be able to enrol you in the first class itself. There is a process and some preparation needed at our end. We keep the materials ready as per the number of students in the class. Therefore, you can enrol at least two days prior to you taking your first class or have a word with the art teacher at least 24 hours in advance so we can make an amendment if any spot is still available. This way, it gives us time to be prepared.

Yes. We do offer a trial class for any new student who is looking to enrol.  There are two trial class options.

Option 1 – Students can enrol for a trial class for an hour, after which the charges are $35 during our school holiday sessions.

Option 2 – Students can enrol for school holiday sessions which is the best way to try a few lessons. We also accept creative kids’ vouchers for holiday sessions.

Normally, during regular class schedules, we do not offer trial classes, but connect with us and we will do whatever we can.

Yes. We offer both weekend and weekday classes. The weekday classes happen on Wednesday after school hours, and the weekend classes are on Saturday and Sunday. Please refer to our timetable for class timings and duration.

At times, Shayoka’s has been posed this question. As to why we charge the way we do. Yes. A couple people have expressed that our fees are little more than they expected. But there is “more to it than meets the eye”. This quote applies well here. Most people are unaware what art products and materials should be bought for the different art classes at Shayoka’s. Also, parents don’t like visiting Dollar shops to buy art products. Therefore, it is our responsibility to stock all the required materials for the different age groups, batches, and levels. Also, parents who are looking to engage their children for some classes and just kill some time, then the fees may seem like a little more. It is very important to look beyond this being a hobby class. Look at it as honing talents, skill, a learning that helps augment the overall growth and development of the child and who knows, this could also be your child’s future tomorrow!

Our fees are determined based on these costs incurred:

  1. Stocking branded, high-quality materials and products
  2. Insurance costs
  3. Working as a full-fledged registered business to foster talents
  4. Registered as a creative kids provider in NSW with vouchers
  5. Costs incurred for different regulations to be adhered to
  6. Prescribed Australian safety standards applied to the furniture, materials and more

And since we are registered, and many costs to run the business are incurred, our fees structure is determined factoring in all these aspects.

Quality products and materials: Market tried and tested materials are provided. And the costs for these are included in the fees. Pencils, erasers, marker pens, papers, scrapbooks, display books, crayons, oil pastels, textures, twister colours, poster paints, watercolours, glitter colours are all made available at our art class.

Having everything in-house is proven helpful: In order to avoid the risk of children forgetting art materials and products at home when coming to class, we have the best, quality materials that we have opted for after many trials and research. We make it so much easier for you by providing you the products instead of you having to buy it. When you buy it at your end it can be expensive. It is easier when we provide all the required materials. Also, there is uniformity maintained when kids at class use the same type of materials.

Comply with Australian standards: Shayoka’s Art Classes has availed the required licenses and is registered with ASIC. We are registered as creative kids voucher provider at NSW services and follow all compliance as per Australian standards when it comes to kids’ safety. All materials and furniture we use are child-safe. Our teachers are experienced, pay individualised attention to each child, and have valid WWCC (Working with Children Certificate). Most of all, our user-friendly website contains all the relevant information.

We never ever compromise when it comes to safety, quality and the creative development of kids.

The art class will provide all the required materials, if your child is enrolled under the ages 4 to 10. You need to just walk in. However, if your child is 10+ years old, then as mentioned in the terms and fees page, the art teachers will provide only the basic stuffs required for the art class like pencil, eraser, sharpener, ruler etc. However, students have to bring in their own materials which are listed as per the desired art lessons or ask for available materials that we stock for students convenience and can be bought in the art class.

We have some offers or discounts. We do offer a one-hour free lesson as a bonus if you enrol two or more students. You can get this extra lesson at the end of the term. But for any reason, if any of the referred students leave the class in the middle of the term, then you cannot avail the extra lesson. We do not offer family discounts. We also do not offer any early bird offers. But by enrolling well advance you can avoid the waiting list and secure a slot for your child for the time slot you desire. This is followed because we have limited seats available per batch.

Please contact the art teacher to book the assessment date and the time slot is for 30 minutes. Free assessment is scheduled only during school holidays prior the new terms begin. This is to avoid any inconvenience in reshuffling the batches and time at a later stage. Please make a note once the term commences, then there is no free assessment available.

If you go through our website, you will understand what levels we offer and what lessons we impart to students at each level. The one thing we know is that once your child enrols in Shayoka’s Art Classes, we will definitely hone the drawing and painting talent. Students learn about colour, combinations, techniques and more. If you want to learn something in person, you can schedule an appointment and we will answer all your queries.

We generally maintain 6-8 students per session. If there are more than 8 students in a particular slot, then we prefer moving the students to other sessions, wherein the numbers of students are less. This way, teachers can give better individual attention.
